RESUMO:

The region of the Ponta do Tubarão State Sustainable Development Reserve is located on the northern coast of the state of Rio Grande do Norte and integrated into the Potiguar basin. It has an area of 130 km2 divided into a marine portion, coastal board, mangroves and 47.25 km2 of vegetated and non-vegetated dunes that carry an aquifer dune system and provides fresh water for local population and environment. It maintains the estuarine system, rich in animal and plant species. The climate of the region is semi-arid, with an average precipitation of 521 mm / year and potential evapotranspiration of 2,054 mm / year, characterizing a high water deficit of 1533 mm / year. The hydraulic transmissivity (T) parameters are 1.67 x 10-3 m2 / s, hydraulic conductivity (K) is 4.13 x 10-4 m / s and specific porosity (μ) is 5%, calculated in previous works. For the potentiometric map, 56 wells were registered, distributed in the study area. The orientation of the groundwater flow is S-N with discharge in the estuarine and oceanic system and of N-S with discharge in the old alluvial deposits. The Piper, Stiff and Durov charts were used for the hydrochemical evaluation. Twenty samples of water from wells and one from surface water (lake) were selected, distributed in the research space to better represent the hydrochemical characteristics and their interaction with the geological nature of the extracts that compose the aquifer. As for the chemical quality of the water, of the 21 samples analyzed, 11 samples are in the classification range for fresh water, 7 for brackish water and 3 for salt water. The bicarbonated type predominates in these waters (48%), with a higher incidence of bicarbonate calcium (33%), which often suggests carbonate and sodium chloride (24%) recharge waters suggesting influence of seawater, ancient salt water or halite dissolution. The waters present a tendency of the change of hydrochemical facies, suggesting simple dissolution or mixture, exchange of ions direct and reverse, during the flow of groundwater.
