RESUMO:

Geography, breaking the worldview that hierarchizes knowledge and promoting expansion and the mobility of the frontiers between knowledge, dialogues vividly with the most diverse artistic languages. The film has gained prominence in these relationships currently facing a cinematography of the world. Taking on and advancing in this dialogue, this thesis, interpreting the Lord of the Rings trilogy, proposes to think of the film as a presentation of the world, a cosmophany, a geography. For this, we discuss, through a bibliographical review, the understanding of Geography as narrative, from the ancient Greeks to the present, as well as the status of the film in an epiphanic perspective. It has primacy, in this review, the phenomenological-existential approach of Geography, proposing geography as the narrative of geograficiy, a way of saying the way of being in the world. The thesis also proposes in a new way of thinking methodologically filmic geography, seeking geographical meanings in what the cinema landscape reveals and not in extra-film discourses. To this end, it follows the hermeneutic path under the inspiration of Eric Dardel and Luigi Pareyson, restoring the value of the sensible and opting for a relational interpretation between the geographer-hermeneutic and the film landscape, understood as a text.
