SUMMARY:

Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy multisystemic injury characterized associated to hypertension, since the 20th week of pregnancy. Other signal and symptoms may be present, including proteinuria, thrombocytopenia, and/or hemolysis, kidney and liver injury, epigastric pain, headache and visual injuries. According to the moment of onset, PE may be classified in early or late. Thus, the present study aimed to characterize pregnant women with PE according to the moment of disease onset. In this way, pregnant women with PE were recruited since the 20th week of gestation: 15 of them with early PE (E-PE group) and 09 with late PE (L-PE group). Blood and urine samples were collected for the general methabolic evaluation, as well as, for albumin to creatinine ratio and kidney tubule proteins determination. The mean age of the patients was 26 years; 12.5% of the patients presented with reduced values of platelets and 25%, with kidney alterations.
