Proposal to Adaption of Failure Analysis Methods (FMEA and FTA) for CubeSats
Reliability. CubeSats. Adaptation. Failure analysis
Satellite studies have been improved and new technologies have been developed, leading to the creation of CubeSats, the main objective of this study. Cubesats carry with them a major concern, which is the low reliability of their missions, most of which fail in the initial phase of the mission. This is due to various reasons, such as financial constraints, time limitations and, in many cases, the lack of experience of their developers. Given these premises, there is a need to use methods that improve the reliability of missions, but which are also feasible to implement, taking into account their restrictions. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to adapt the traditional failure analysis tools, FMEA and FTA, for the development of Cubesats, in order to reduce the complexity of implementation, making the techniques more optimized, but which manage to generate reliability for the projects. With the proposed adaptation, it is estimated that there will be a significant reduction in the number of steps, approximately 46% less compared to traditional methods. This optimization will therefore improve the reliability of CubeSats projects, especially those with resource-constrained teams, representing a breakthrough for the success of these missions.
