The energy independence of a nation, carbon free, can be achieved through the use of green hydrogen. Furthermore, the transition from a global economy based on fossil fuels to one based on renewable sources is underway, representing a paradigm shift. The hydrogen economy is driven by various sectors of society, including governments, businesses and the academic community, and its production through water electrolysis offers environmental, social and economic benefits, including sustainable development. In the transportation sector, green hydrogen is a key element in the decarbonization process and is technically feasible. This research aims to develop a framework of guidelines and best practices to support decision-makers in the utilization of green hydrogen in Brazil's urban transportation system. Through a systematic literature review, 125 guidelines and best practices were identified and subsequently categorized into 14 categories. The study follows a qualitative approach. The theoretical result will be compared with the reality of countries that have already developed some form of strategy and/or applications for green hydrogen in their urban transportation systems and it will be validated through expert assessment. Each country's reality will be reported through a case study. It is expected that the framework will serve as a support for decision-makers and contribute to the decarbonization of Brazil's urban transportation system, as well as the transportation sector in general and serve as a reference for other countries seeking to advance in the issues addressed in the study.
