SUMMARY:


The method of artificial elevation by progressing cavity pumping has proven to be very efficient in the production of oils with high viscosity or having a large amount of sand. This characteristic has made it one of the most used lifting methods in the oil fields. With the increase in the application of this method, the need to develop research in this area of action is growing even more. This method uses a system of rotational movements on the surface, which through a set of rods is transmitted to the progressive cavity pump installed inside the well, aiming to raise the existing fluid from the bottom of the well to the surface. In order to increase the knowledge about the progressive cavitation artificial cavity elevation method, the present work developed a computational simulator for oil wells that use this lifting method, capable of representing the dynamic behavior of important variables during the production process. The simulator also has a control strategy, which aims to ensure that the equipment both operates under suitable conditions and within its user-defined safety limits, in addition to optimizing well production. In order to obtain the validation of the proposed control strategy, laboratory tests were performed using virtual wells. These tests demonstrated that the strategy developed was able to perform as expected, that is, to control the pump speed, keeping the submergence within the limits set by the operator.
