RESUMO:

This thesis intends to contribute to studies on environmental sustainability in the oil industry by measuring the eco-efficiency of Micro and Small Enterprises (MPEs) in the oil and gas production chain in Rio Grande do Norte, seeking to help maximize environmental efficiency, Cost reduction, identification of method improvements in operational processes with added value and strengthening of business competitiveness in the region. Eco-efficiency is a management strategy that aims to reduce resource consumption, reduce the impact on nature and provide customers with higher quality products and services. For its measurement, the methodology called "CE7" taxonomy was used, an acronym referring to the "seven competences of eco-efficiency" that adapted the environmental strategies to support eco-efficiency will show the level of eco-efficiency in which companies find themselves. The field research takes as its object 44 (forty-four) MPEs companies of the oil and gas production chain of Rio Grande do Norte, part of the project "RN oil, gas and energy production chain" developed by SEBRAE RN, Who serve Petrobras and are part of RedePetro RN. Data were collected from August to October 2016, using the survey method. At the end of the study it was evidenced the absence of eco-efficient MPEs in the productive chain and that the best level of delivery occurred for two enterprises that obtained a level of "eco-efficient" eco-efficiency. Environmental strategies that promote eco-efficiency are energy efficiency, Solid Waste Management Plan (PGRS), environmental care in supplier selection and environmental licensing. Finally, eco-efficiency is not an institutionalized management practice in the reality of MSEs in this productive chain.
