AREA: Ciência da Informação
SUMMARY:

Today's organizations need to check that the information used to support their organizational systems and decisions is of good quality, as well as checking that the workforce they have is sufficient to fully meet their demands. To this end, the federal government has the Workforce Sizing Reference Model (WDS), which aims to define the ideal number of people for each work unit to carry out its tasks. Information on work units is the main input for applying this model, and its quality is essential for the results generated to be close to reality and contribute to an assertive people management decision-making process. Thus, the problem guiding this research is: How is the information used to fill in the UFRN's DFT characterized from the point of view of information quality attributes? The general objective of this study is to audit the quality of the information used to fill in the DFT reference model at UFRN. In order to achieve these objectives, the following specific objectives were outlined: a) Identify the attributes of information quality according to the relevant literature; b) Verify the correctness of filling in the information in the DFT reports; c) Verify the perception of the producers of the information in relation to the attributes of information quality when filling in the DFT; d) Identify the main difficulties experienced during the process of filling in the information in the DFT; and, e) Propose  recommendations to help overcome the main difficulties related to filling in the information, in order to contribute to improving the quality of the information used in the DFT at UFRN. This research is of an applied, descriptive/exploratory nature with a mixed approach quantitative/qualitative). With regard to research techniques, the intelligence audit method developed by Carvalho (2022) was used as a guide, along with bibliographical and documentary research and the application of a questionnaire inspired by the PSP/IQ Model by Kahn, Strong and Wang (2002). Descriptive statistics and the content analysis technique were used to analyze the data. The results point to relative agreement among the information producers regarding the presence of the information quality attributes studied in the information used in the DFT, so that they were ranked from worst to best. These results suggest that there is a need to improve the quality of information related to these attributes, especially those of timeliness and accessibility, which received the lowest levels of agreement among those surveyed. Finally, it can be concluded that the objectives were fully achieved, and the results obtained can be used to improve the quality of information used in the UFRN's DFT, shedding light on the debate on the subject in the institution, as well as in the Federal Public Administration, in order to enable improvements to be made to the DFT's information in the agencies, contributing to improving the allocation of personnel in the public service and increasing efficiency in the provision of services to society.
