SUMMARY:
The constant changes in digital technologies have played a fundamental role in intermediating communications through the use of social media. In this sense, Instagram emerges as one of the most adopted social media platforms in Brazil, this scenario also affects public institutions such as, for example, public libraries that have started to use it. Given this, this dissertation aims to explore the Câmara Cascudo State Library, which after nine years closed, reopened in this technological context, adopting social media as one of the tools to fulfill its communicative and informative functions. From this perspective, the objective of this research is to understand the subjects' informational practices related to Instagram, seeking to understand how the library can improve the use of this platform to effectively contribute to people's daily lives. The importance of this study is justified due to the ability of social media to shape information services, particularly in public libraries that seek to modernize and remain relevant in the digital environment. The methodology adopted is based on a netnographic approach, a branch of ethnography into the digital environment. In this context, interviews will be carried out with informational subjects who seek to understand the interaction of these subjects with the library and Instagram. The interviews are carried out with the purpose of understanding how informational practices on Instagram impact the subjects' daily lives and the use of the library. The data obtained from the interviews and the analysis of the Câmara Cascudo Library's Instagram profile will form the basis for carrying out the Content Analysis of the interviews and the Social Network Analysis of the existing relationships of these subjects. In this way, contributing to the understanding of the practices of these subjects, thus generating the final product which will propose guidelines on the use of Instagram in an optimized way for the Câmara Cascudo Library.
