SUMMARY:

Faced with the constant need to improve its management of technical-administrative personnel, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte constituted, on September 26, 2013, the Own Commission for Technical-Administrative Personnel in Education – CPPTAE, through Resolution No. 041/2013 – CONSAD, linked to the Provost for People Management. Among the activities carried out by the committee, the vacancy distribution process stands out, which is of extreme strategic importance in the management of human resources at UFRN. This work proposes to evaluate the quality of the information used in the process of distributing vacancies for technical-administrative staff at UFRN, considering the perspective of CPPTAE members. As specific objectives, the research intends to carry out a survey of the information used by CPPTAE members in decision-making regarding the vacancy distribution process; measuring the quality level of the information inserted in this context through the categorization of attributes; and propose improvements regarding the attributes assessed as deficient based on the diagnosis carried out, in order to optimize the process of distributing vacancies in the institution. The approach method used in the research is inductive, as the phenomena are observed and analyzed in an attempt to discover the causes of their manifestation. As for its nature, this work can be defined as applied social research with a mixed or quantitative and qualitative approach. As for the objectives, it is characterized as descriptive. The universe is made up of CPPTAE members, all of whom belong to the UFRN staff and are direct participants in the vacancy distribution process. Regarding data collection techniques, documental research will initially be used in order to define what information is used to make decisions in the process of distributing vacancies. Then, a questionnaire based on the PSP/IQ Model, by Lee at al (2002), will be developed and applied to all CPPTAE members to measure the quality level of the information evaluated. Finally, a focus group will be held with the members participating in one of the ordinary meetings of the commission, with the purpose of elaborating an action plan to propose improvements to the attributes evaluated with insufficient levels of quality.
