SUMMARY:

In the current context, in which there has been a process of change from industrial society to the information society, characterized by the intense use of information technology and by a period of excess of information, information is understood as an important strategic resource, both for decision-making by managers as well as for a process of transparency to inspection bodies and society, especially in a period of scarcity of resources. In this way, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte has an annual accountability process, having as its main part the Management Report in the form of an Integrated Report, which aims to communicate the main actions carried out throughout the year around various strategic themes to the University. In this sense, the research has the general objective of proposing improvements in the information flows and products of the UFRN Management Report elaboration process, in the light of Information Management theory, making it more agile, assertive and widespread among stakeholders. As specific objectives, there are: a) Map the process of elaboration of the RG of UFRN and identify the informational flows; b) Identify whether the information described in the UFRN RG is in line with the information needs of the TCU for the purposes of rendering accounts and managers in decision-making at a strategic/institutional level; c) Propose improvements in the collection and processing of data for the preparation of the UFRN RG; d) Identify, evaluate and/or propose new products referring to the UFRN RG elaboration process. This research is Applied and descriptive and classified by the method of approach as a quali-quantitative research and by the method of procedure as historical, comparative and single-case study. To fulfill the objectives, as research instruments for data collection, bibliographic research, questionnaires and semi-structured interviews will be carried out. For the analysis and interpretation of data, the steps of Creswell (2010) will be used, in addition to data triangulation. This research is expected to signal improvements in the process of preparing the Management Report in the light of Information Management, thus bringing better communication and transparency of the actions developed by the University to stakeholders.
