Education in the Katu village: between institucional advances and impasses for indigenous autonomy

This work presents an advance in the preparation of the thesis entitled “Education in the Katu village: between institutional advances and impasses for indigenous autonomy”, whose purpose is to analyze the conception of education of the Potiguara people of the Katu village, based on their process of ethnic emergence. At this stage of research, education is understood as a broad process, beyon schools, relating to the territorial struggle, social and political organization, and with the elements of the ethnic identity of the Potiguara people, as presented in the first chapters. Next, the focus of the research will be to investigate the ways in which ethnic specificities are considered in municipal educational policies, seeking to understand the relationships, tensions, conflicts and negotiations between the indigenous population and the State bodies in the configuration of education in indigenous territory.
