RESUMO:

The aim of this paper is to understand how the foundation and movement of the Zambêracatu Nation, the first and only maracatu founded in Rio Grande do Norte, provokes changes in social representations about black potiguar culture and religions of African origin. We will analyze which reasons, symbolic elements and strategies used for the construction of a tradition in the contemporary world, considering the new configurations of social relations and forms of belonging. In addition, I seek to understand how the existence of Zambêracatu and its movements contribute to the fight against anti-racist struggle and religious intolerance.
