SUMMARY:

The use of lignocellulosic residues (mainly constituted by cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin) for the generation of bioproducts is shown to be a viable alternative to the maintenance of the environment, considering that such products have environmentally favorable properties and characteristics, as well as the valorization of residues that would be destined for disposal. In this context, the present study aims to study the synthesis of rhamnolipids (RLs), second generation ethanol (2G ethanol) and lignin nanoparticles (LNP) from the Agave sisalana Perrine (sisal) residue. Currently Brazil is among the main world producers of sisal, a plant belonging to the Agavaceae family and originated from Mexico, from which ropes, rugs and carpets are obtained. In order to obtain the products, it is necessary that the biomass evaluated undergo pretreatment processes, which aim to provide better access by microorganisms to the lignocellulosic matrix. Organosolv and steam explosion combined with alkaline treatments will be used, from which liquid fraction (RLs and NPL production) and solid fraction for the 2G ethanol production. Furthermore, based on bioproducts characterization, possible applications in the cosmetic area can be analyzed.
