RESUMO:

Due to the great socioeconomic and technological development, and even though to the increase in the awareness of a large part of society about the damage caused to the environment through the use of non-renewable fuels, currently the oil still occupies important position in the energetic matrix at worldwide and national level. However, the incessant use of feedstock of the fossil fuels and the need to accelerate the production make the oil fields around the world to be prematurely reaching the period of decline, thus necessitating a supplementary energy to prevent the closure of wells or even the abandonment of the deposit. Due to economic issues and technical viability, The Continuous Water Injection is currently the most commonly used recovery method, however, it has limitations due to the difference in fluid mobility. An alternative way to minimize this problem, with increasing the viscosity of the aqueous phase, is the use of the polymeric solution injection method. In the last decades, experimental studies and application in pilot projects using the injection of polymers have been developed, however, there is a need to evaluate the technical and economic viability of a determined process, even before applying it in the field. Therefore, in order to try to answer some questions, to understand physically the phenomena involved and to collaborate to optimize the EOR methods, the present proposal aims to perform a numerical study combined to experimental data of the oil recovery process in reservoirs with characteristics of the Brazilian Northeast, using the IMEX flow simulator (Implicit - Explicit Black Oil Simulator) from the CMG group (Computer Modeling Group).
