A study on the Barriers to the Internationalization of Incubated Companies In Natal
Internationalization; Barriers to Internationalization; Business Incubators.
Business internationalization is becoming an essential condition to sustainability and growth for companies all over the world to a point where they are not a strategic option any longer, but rather, a commercial necessity. The present work endeavours to understand the barriers that currently discourage or prevent the internationalization of incubated companies in Natal, focusing on the local entrepreneurs’ perspective vis-à-vis the current state of art in academic research on internationalization barriers, in order to understand the local reality of incubated companies from the broader context of internationalization, seeking to understand their strengths and weaknesses, the main challenges to be faced and the role of business incubators in the internationalization process. The proposed research is exploratory and descriptive, aiming at the development of a broader and more robust understanding about the theme; its nature is essentially qualitative, focusing on the personal experience and perspectives of individuals and organizations. The results expected are divided into three categories: a) Academic – extending the knowledge about the interrelation of the current scientific literature on incubation and internationalization from a local perspective. b) Organizational – achieving a broader understandingaboutthe potential for internationalization of local companies, allowing for new suggestions on how to improve the performance of incubators and the competitive advantages of local incubated companies. c) Social – proposing public policies that can improve the internationalization process of local companies.
