RESUMO:

One of the major public health concerns is the increase on the number of cases of Aedes aegypti-related diseases, which is the main vector for chikungunya, dengue and zika. Models that represent its spread can effectively guide policies for control and prevention of such diseases. Knowing that the population of Aedes aegypti has a strong dependence on the environment, it is essential to use techniques that help to find models that allow an adequate forecast of weather and climate. In light of the above, this work aims to identify which meteorological variables influence the occurrence of diseases transmitted by Aedes aegypti in Natal-RN.  The proposed method is to analyze historical series of cases of the infectious diseases previously mentioned in relation to meteorological data of the city of Natal through cross correlation. With the identification of the most influential variables, it is proposed to find adequate parameterizations, through the techniques of planning and analysis of experiments, for the modeling and prediction of these variables using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model at the study site. Research results serve as a basis for aligning control and prevention policies to local characteristics and, thus, be more efficient in reducing the number of infectious diseases caused by Aedes aegypti.
