RESUMO:

This Project proposes to study the Mulheres Mil (Thousand woman) Project through the experience in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The main objective is to identify the contributions of the program in the lives of the alumni. The program Thousand Woman is an inclusive public policy which aims in giving better quality education access, qualification, employment and income to the women in vulnerable social situations, throughout professional qualification and woman empowerment. This study starts from the inequality faced by the women in the Brazilian society, specially about the introduction into schooling and in the working force. Researches reveal that even though women right now surpass man in the study level and represent 40% of the global work force, they are still not able to surpass the general inequality. In order to change this reality, the women movement is being able to discuss with the government and contribute in the making of new woman policies, though public political conferences. Those policies talk about gender inequality, higher level of schooling and autonomy. Within this context, the thousand woman project intents to be a social police to promote autonomy, making it possible for women to access education promoting social autonomy in vulnerable women. Thus contributing in lowering social and economical inequalities between man and woman. Considering those, this study tries to understand what contributes to the autonomy and quality in the life of those woman who have been part of the program in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
