RESUMO:

A central issue for human societies has been the development. Overcoming the paradigm that considers that this is only linked to the economic growth based on the intensive use of conventional technology, as well as the reflexes of this in the environmental, social, cultural, territorial, political and economic areas have been points for theoretical discussion, that foments the appearance debates such as the sustainability. At the same time, it stimulates the construction and conquest of new strategies and objectives for a development that goes against the character of the paradigm put, putting as necessary the direction of efforts to think alternatives to new technologies. In this context are the social technologies, that imply in the construction of solutions that represent social transformation and that are developed collectively by those people who will benefit from these alternatives. In Rio Grande do Norte, in an effort by the Federal Rural University of Semi-Arid (UFERSA), the Feminist Center March 8 (CF8) and a group of women farmers, the social technology for the reuse of gray water was constructed, that is that deriving of domestic activities such as washing dishes and clothes. The Água Viva System, name given for the technology, captures the water to be reused, which goes through the filtration until it is released, contributing to the sanitation of the yards and, mainly, creationg small animals and agroecological food production. Considering this scenario, the objective of this study is to understand the environmental, social and economic impacts of the use of the Água Viva System based on the perception of the Monte Alegre I Settlement Project - Upanema/RN. For that, research was carried out on fundamentals on Sustainability; Brazilian Agriculture and Brazilian Semiarid; Science, Technology and Society (CTS); And Social Technology; and structured a path to the case study, of an applied nature, that will obtain the data through semi-structured interviews with the involved actresses and documentary research, and will use discourse analysis to guide the qualitative approach of the study. It is intended that, at the end of the study's execution, it is possible to glimpse a panorama of the local reality regarding the impacts of the use of water supply alternatives for the brazilian semi-arid region.
