SUMMARY:

Suicide is an important public health problem, consisting of a complex and multicausal phenomenon, with a high prevalence of depressive symptoms and incidence of suicide among health professionals, especially in urgent and emergency sectors. In this context, the aim is to reduce the number of cases through the use of accessible technologies, as a risk stratification instrument for suicide among health professionals in these sectors. The objective of the study was to identify and map the existing suicide risk stratification instruments for health professionals who work in hospital emergencies. It consists of a scoping review based on the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews guideline. The study protocol was registered in the Open Science Framework (https://osf.io/xakpf/), with DOI identification: 10.17605/OSF.IO/XAKPF. Articles, dissertations and theses were checked in 7 national and international databases using the PCC mnemonic: P for Population – Health technologies; C for Concept – Suicide; C for Context – Health Personnel. The inclusion criteria were research that responds to the objective of this study, published online, in full, and materials such as books, manuals, protocols and legislation from ministerial bodies or entities specialized in the area and with no time limit, and the exclusion criteria were editorials, theoretical essays and the presence of repeated studies. As a result, a final sample of 114 articles published between 1984 and 2023 were selected. The results showed that 46.61% of the studies were aimed at healthcare professionals, corresponding to 33.33% in service environments. health in general and 30.70% in hospital environments and, furthermore, that the majority of technologies presented were soft-hard, with a demonstration of prevalence of factors pertinent to mental health, impacts and psychosocial work factors, representing 83.33 % in research focused on management. It was observed that there is no suicide risk stratification instrument aimed at the public of urgent and emergency health professionals, however there are many studies that favor the verification of circumstances or risk factors that promote suicidal ideation, making it possible to structure an instrument for this purpose. A suicide risk stratification instrument would play a crucial role in reducing cases and providing greater mental health assistance to public servants.
