SUMMARY:

In recent years, the creation of public policies, the advancement of medicine, associated with the incorporation of new technologies, the use of increasingly effective treatments, in addition to the development of several pediatric subspecialties, combined with the proliferation of pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. , contributed to modifying the epidemiological profile of the population, with an increase in chronic diseases, a reduction in infant mortality and a decline in acute conditions.
Given this context, a new approach to care emerges, aimed at caring for patients with diseases that cannot be cured through a new therapeutic concept. Therefore, the present work aims to train nursing professionals for Palliative Care aimed at hospitalized children with a chronic condition, through the Virtual Learning Environment of the Unified Health System. It is an action research with a qualitative approach, which is characterized by identifying and solving collective problems, through investigation based on a self-reflection of the actors and researchers involved. This research will be built in two stages: analysis of the knowledge of nursing professionals about Palliative Care aimed at hospitalized children with chronic conditions and qualification of these professionals through the AVASUS platform. The nursing team demonstrates limitations in the emotional field and theoretical knowledge for the provision of palliative care to children. In this way, the present project aims to improve the practices adopted in the care of children with chronic-evolutionary diseases by the nursing team, in order to equip them for palliative care, as well as to generate improvements in the quality of nursing care as which may bring subsidies to support the planning of its actions and scientific enrichment.
