SUMMARY:

The present study seeks to verify, through a case-by-case analysis of the "Sífilis Não" Project, the adequacy of research entities to the General Data Protection Law. In this context, issues regarding the personal data protection policies that have been adopted under the aforementioned Project will be addressed. The difficulties related to the theme refer mainly to the fact that this legal book came into force a little early and, as a result, the brazilian jurisprudence and doctrine do not yet have clear understandings about its application. The methodological procedures used were the bibliographic review and the mapping of strategies and policies for the protection of personal data implemented by the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health - LAIS of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN, which coordinates and executes the Project.
