RESUMO:

The master's research aims to structure a continuing education course, mediated by technological resources, to minimize the damage to medical equipment (EMH) due to misuse, negligence and recklessness. Considering that the universe of EMH is considerable, there are more than 800 types, and each type has several brands and models that vary technically, two in particular were chosen to be the central theme of study, discussion and pedagogical proposal of this project. One, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging has a high cost of acquisition, implantation and operation, as well as having a high impact on care when unavailable, since it compromises the performance of diagnostic imaging tests for identification, prognosis and therapy of patients, especially with suspected cancer; The other, hospital beds, have medium unit cost and low degree of complexity, but the quantitative representation is large in the various hospitals in the country. The impact of their unavailability is the blockage of care beds, preventing the hospitalization of new patients who need to stay in hospitals for their health conditions to be restored. Among the various causes of medical equipment breakdowns, there is misuse, which can be considered a preventable or mitigable cause. Considering the continental dimensions of the country, the technology-assisted education strategy of health care professionals is a viable, wide diffusion, low-cost tool to reduce breakdowns of these two types of misuse. Continuing education is one of the main tools used in hospitals today to increase patient safety. Thus, to develop this master's research, action research was approached. We defined the keywords and performed a search in the Google Scholar scientific base. In addition, two immersion workshops were held to train tutoring in open source education. Research will also be carried out in at least 3 hospitals of the Brazilian Hospital Services Company network to gather field information, as well as consult equipment manufacturers for access to misuse information and main recommendations for good operating practices for both. The result of the work is the pedagogical proposal of a course of relevance and impact to mitigate equipment breakdowns due to misuse and minimize the assistance, social and financial impacts on the population, hospitals and health networks of the Unified Health System. It is intended to contribute to increased patient safety, the main focus of modern health strategies.
