Socio-emotional Skills: A Pedagogical Proposal in the Light of Active Methodologies for Integrative Education in the Subject of Mathematics

The general objective of the research is to propose a methodology that uses active methodologies to develop socio-emotional skills and engagement in the discipline of mathematics. This is a case study of a qualitative and quantitative nature. This research will be carried out in two schools on the outskirts of the city of Natal/RN, one public school and the other a private school. Participants will be students in the final years of elementary school who are enrolled in the 8th year, as well as the respective mathematics teachers who work in these respective grades. For the execution of this research, cinema will be used as a pedagogical tool, as well as active teaching methodologies. proposals based on active methodologies and mathematics contents seen in the classroom relating them to the film seen in the classroom. At the end of these procedures, another questionnaire will be applied on the methodology used, as well as an interview with the teachers participating in this research. At the end of this study, it is expected to identify the main factors that interfere with teaching and learning in mathematics, the correlations between active methodologies and social and emotional engagement in mathematics, as well as contributing to the integral development of participating students. As a final product of this research, it is intended to develop didactic material for mathematics teachers to serve as a support for preparing classes that enhance the cognitive and socio-emotional development of students.
