SUMMARY:

Geography is the science that studies the geographical space, where human relationships are established, and the relationship between society and the environment. Field trips or study trips are considered one of the strategies for teaching geography, aiding in the process of knowledge construction through experiences that allow the observation of some concepts in a more contextualized manner. However, some educational institutions, particularly in the public sector, face difficulties in conducting these experiences, and certain concepts cannot be observed in situ. In this context, the following question arises: How can digital technologies assist in creating virtual study trips for the teaching of geography? Therefore, the main objective of this investigation is to analyze educational technologies that can innovatively assist in the creation of virtual study trip itineraries, with the aim of contributing to the teaching of geography. To achieve the proposed objective, a four-stage action research was chosen: I) identification and definition of the compositional elements of a virtual study trip; II) research on technological resources for creating virtual study trips; III) definition of innovative educational methodologies; and IV) development of didactic sequences for conducting virtual study trips. At the end of the research, we hope to contribute to the creation of didactic sequences for conducting virtual study trips, a strategy considered fundamental for the teaching of geography and the development of learning.
