SUMMARY:

According to Brazilian national educational program for people with disabilities (PNEE) all deaf students must attend to bilingual schools. In these schools, those students must follow Brazilian nacional curriculum for education (BNCC). Only with adaptations necessary because of their language (Brazilian Sign Language) and the way deaf people learn, through visual perception. To help regular schools with them, in 2009 were created national centers for deaf students and complementary education for teachers (CAS). When the students get to CAS, they are evaluated so the teachers can understand how much the student knows, what is missing and so, how can the teacher contribute to their development. In Math, these tests are made since 1940. In the beginning all of them were based on cognition exams, but with written or oral questions. Through the years, these tests were improved, thanks to research and improvement of sign language around the world. We can notice those changes in research by Rosich, Nuñes e Campos (1996 apud NOGUEIRA, BORGES, FRIZZARINI, 2013) and Kritzer (2009). So, as we notice this improvement and in agreement with the thinking of Libâneo (1994) and Luckesi (2011), we understand that every test must evaluate and feedback the results and by doing so, help the teacher to organize a better class orientation. According to Arnoldo Júnior, Geller and Fernandes (2013), games, visual didactic resources and visual environment/experience are not teaching method but, an identity aspect of deaf culture, so, the use of technology allow these experiences and helps teachers to notice how students understand math and its concepts. We consider a test, but using Statistical Literacy as its base, based on Gal (2002). By doing that, we try to answer this question: How can an educational software helps teachers to evaluate the level of Statistical Literacy of deaf students? The main objective of this research is to develop educational software that is able to help teachers to evaluate Statistical Literacy of deaf students. Also, as secondary objectives we want to identify how the test is doing nowadays at CAS-Natal; Establish a methodology for using software since conception through ending stage; Validate software use for deaf students and its adherence. We will use Design Science Research (DSR) as main method. In the end, we hope this software can help teachers in their work and help deaf students to notice how math is present in their lifes.
