SUMMARY:

The National Curriculum Guidelines for medical courses emphasize the importance of using methodologies that privilege the active participation of the student in the construction of knowledge and the integration between the contents, enabling the development of collaborative interprofessional competencies. The definition of competence relates to that of entrepreneurial competence as the essence of a creative and innovative culture that occupies a prominent place in the performance of any human function. Active methodologies allow the propagation of knowledge respecting the individualities and subjectivities of the student, allowing them to continue advancing in relation to knowledge and the development of competences, in all dimensions of life. Given the importance of health professionals developing collaborative interprofessional skills, the need to answer the following question arose: How can the active methodology – hackathon – contribute to the development of entrepreneurial behavior in university students in the area of health in RN? In order to answer the question and achieve the objective of developing a guide for teaching entrepreneurial skills to students in the health area of higher education based on the active methodology – hackathon –, the Design Science Research – DSR methodology was applied; the problem identification phase enabled the monitoring of the Health Business Summit (HBS) event and carrying out a survey with students in the health area who were involved in that event. During the exploratory phase, the Systematic Review of Literature – RSL – contributed to the identification of which active methodologies have been used in undergraduate medical courses in Brazil in recent years, founded the proposal to prepare a guide and the application of a hackathon with students from the health area for validation of the artifact. The partial results made it possible to understand that medical students have entrepreneurial characteristics and sometimes behave like an entrepreneur. As for the identification of methodologies, the studies revealed that a hackathon in the Design Thinking modality is an active methodology that can be applied with the participation of undergraduates in the health area, as it facilitates experiential learning, relies on experimentation and change, enabling participants adapt to the situation, change roles and position themselves. These results strengthened the elaboration of the guidance guide for the application of the active methodology - Hackathon, whose objective is to challenge participants to identify problems in the health area, think and prototype ideas that generate innovative, applicable solutions and favor the development of entrepreneurial skills.
