SUMMARY:

This research has as a main motivation the difficulty Brazilians students have of learning mathematics, as seen, specially in large scale evaluations. The literature shows interdisciplinary pedagogic practices that promote the students' protagonism and provide real world problems resolutions, helping students to learn. In this way, the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) is shown in the recent literature as an innovative possibility with positive impact in these registers. On maths knowledges field, as technology advances, there's a social information process increase, what make important Statistic Literacy development to elementary School, in view of part these information is synthesized as tables and graphics and is used for compare and analyze indexes and, so, to defend ideas and decisions making. In this way, developing researches related to Statistical teaching and learning show relevance as those concepts are present in several areas, helping interdisciplinary actions, as practiced by STEAM approach. That said, this research seeks to answer the question: What are the STEAM approach implications, on teaching practices, to seventh grade elementary School students’ Statistical Literacy development? To answer this question it was defined the research’s general objective: Analyze the STEAM approach implications in the teaching practices to Statistical Literacy development. From it, were outlined three specific purposes: i) Raise experiences on elementary School reasoned by the STEAM approach that enable statistic abilities development; ii) To implement teaching sequence lined up with STEAM approach to Statistical Literacy development and; iii) Analyze statistical abilities developed and appropriated by the students from executed experiences. The theoretical foundation is anchored by Statistical Literacy on elementary School, specially on concepts and procedures related to the seventh grade elementary Schools students’ abilities, recommended by official documents as Common Curriculum National Base (BNCC); so as conceptualization and description of pedagogic practices on STEAM approach to elementary School. This research has a qualitative character and it’s based on the Research-Action model, which allows the analysis and intervention of the researcher’s research context problems, from the phases that configure the investigation. This way, initially, it was made the research description context, from which twenty one seventh grade  elementary school students participated, from Natal/RN County private school. Afterwards, following research-action methodological procedures, it’s on way a STEAM practice, making use of active methodology Projects Based Learning (ABP) with the purpose to develop the students' Statistical Literacy in this group. As a data collection tools will be used participating observation, field journal, besides photographs, videos and voice recording. At the research end, it is expected to contribute to pedagogic practices development that help the statistical concepts appropriation by the students, so far as other abilities needed to their citizenship exercise.
