SUMMARY:

The teaching process from the context of competences and skills has been widely discussed over the past few decades. In Brazil, the Common National Base Curricular (BNCC) is the document that guides the curriculum of schools that offer basic education, organizing their proposal based on competencies and skills. With the approval of the BNCC, in the 2017, it was necessary to the schools a reformulation of their curriculum, seeking to adapt to the document's proposals. Noting that the deadline for this reformulation is 2020, schools still have numerous difficulties in adapting the teaching proposals to what presents the BNCC. One of the main causes that lead to failure in this process is the lack of adequacy of teaching materials with what competence teaching proposes, which requires the mobilization of conceptual, procedural and attitudinal content that is not achieved for the materials that schools currently use. In addition, the evaluation process needs instruments capable of helping the teacher to understand whether students are reaching the competences expected during the learning moments. So, it is necessary to propose alternatives that present means for the development of teaching materials that are in accordance with the BNCC. Seeking to minimize this problem in context of Sciences subject, this work brings as research question:  to what extent can the use of an educational kit to teach the matter and energy thematic unit help to reduce the difficulties for teaching specific skills and competences for the Sciences subject, in the 8th grade of elementary school? The main studies that address this theme state that the use of teaching materials that guide teaching from problem situations that help the student to apply their knowledge in real situations, can contribute to the teaching of specific competences and skills. In view of this premise, this study aims to analyze the contributions of an educational kit as a resource for teaching skills for the Science subject, in the 8th grade of elementary school. Through a methodological path guided by design science research and parts of action research, it is expected to understand difficulties encountered by teachers and to design an educational kit to minimize such difficulties, employing methods capable of evaluating and understanding contributions of the kit as teaching material for the context of teaching by skills and competences, from an empirical approach in a public school. The kit, consisting of low-cost materials such as electronic components, arduino boards and teaching guides, intends to assist in the conduct of teaching proposals, relying on teaching sequences for specific skills, as well as support in the evaluation process, using rubrics that help the teacher understand the process of acquiring skills by students.
