SUMMARY:

Nanotechnology has allowed the advance of functional textiles, these materials have added value compared to conventional textiles, moreover, the evolution of scientific research on these products is significant. Thus, this research aims to produce a technical textile with antibacterial activity for application in the medical field. Therefore, with the aid of plant extracts, which are natural and sustainable compounds that have been used in various sectors of the industry, due to their different properties, mainly biological, being currently suitable for use in textiles functional finishes through different systems. In this context, the use of a microemulsified system (SME) is an effective alternative in the solubilization of functional agents, because it is a thermodynamic system stable, being effective for long-term use. Therefore, for the development of this study it was necessary to obtain the extract of Momordica charantia, as well as the solubilization of the extract with different concentrations of SME and their characterizations. For this, the analyzes were used: Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and critical micellar concentration (CMC). In the case of SMEs, the characterization techniques performed were: particle size, zeta potential, thermal stress, pH, electrical conductivity, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and antibacterial analysis (Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, gram-positive and gram-negative), performed in the extract and in the different microemulsions. Subsequently, the SME with the best antibacterial action will be functionalized in polyamide fabric, obtaining a technical textile and checking its efficiency in terms of functional property and applicability.
