SUMMARY:

The World Health Organization (WHO), declared on January 30, 2020, the highest level of global health alert provided for in the International Health Regulations (IHR), the state of Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic. The covid-19 pandemic can be portrayed as one of the greatest contaminations of humanity. The detection and spread of an emerging respiratory pathogen were accompanied by uncertainties about the main epidemiological, clinical and virological characteristics of this new pathogen, in particular its ability to spread in the human population and its virulence (case severity). In Rio Grande do Norte (RN), a Brazilian state, RegulaRN was the regulatory platform used to manage, with equity, the access of patients with covid-19 to public hospitals, when necessary. In this work, the application of the Unified Prioritization Score (EUP-UTI) in RegulaRN was explored, in order to increase the efficiency of the regulatory process in the RN. The used database was extracted directly from the RegulaRN platform, so that the extraction was carried out ensuring the anonymization of patient data. The Petri Net (PN) was articulated from the Platform Independent Petri Net Editor (PIPE) tool to project the number of deaths considering the case in which the use of EUP had not been adopted in the RN. In the analyses, it was found that the EUP had repercussions on the speed of bed availability, reducing the patient's waiting time in the queue. After one day of use, the number of patients waiting less than a day increased from 30.7% of requests to 51.9% and after thirty days it already indicated 69.1% of requests. In addition, the waiting time for a covid-19 bed gradually decreases over the days after EUP implementation, from a maximum period of 10 days before EUP to a maximum of 5 days, 30 days after EUP implementation in the RN.
