QoE Equation Proposal for Tactile Internet

Quality of Experience (QoE) is a metric defined by the Telecommunication Standardization Sector, a unit of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), as Users' degree of satisfaction or annoyance related to an application or service. This concept application estimates the users' expectations fulfilment regarding the chosen application or service, considering the factors that can contribute to the quality perception. For example, this metric is commonly used in video streaming and penalizes playback aspects, such as crashes and reduced image quality. Likewise, the QoE evaluation in tactile internet connections makes it possible to generate criteria capable of indicating the need for adjustment in the connection parameters to maintain good connectivity, guaranteeing the low latency criterion and a good realism degree in tactile interactions. This work proposes a real-time test platform capable of simulating tactile sensations in a glove-type tactile device. This platform serves as the basis for an experiment aimed at tactile exploration of the product textures present on an e-commerce website, validating the simulated sensations, and defining a QoE equation for tactile internet systems.
