Two-Terminal Traveling-Wave-Based Non-Homogeneous Transmission-Line Protection
This paper proposes a Two-terminal traveling-wave-based non-homogeneous transmission line protection considering the sampling rate effect. The proposed method is capable of discriminating internal faults, even in complex line topolgies, and identifying the section on fault, being useful for advanced protection logic applications such as selective automatic reclosing. The method is evaluated through extensive simulations in Alternative Transient Program (ATP) considering the Bergeron model of a non-homogeneous line comprising overhead, submarine and underground sections. Preliminary results shows that the proposed method is secure and dependable and is applicable to non-homogeneous lines with any number of sections and different topologies.
