Development of an RF system for gesture recognition

Wearables antennas, signal language, dual polarized antenna.

In this work, the analysis and development of a wearable device applied to gestural recognition of non-verbal languages is presented. The device is developed in two distinct phases, being: The development of a two-port circuit, which functions as a filter and a wideband antenna with a dual polarization characteristic. The operating principle of the initial circuit is based on the displacement of the stubs that are magnetically coupled to the microstrip line, where, this feed changes from a proximity coupling, to a direct connection through the mechanical movement of the stubs. The second device is designed to possess the characteristic of dual polarization, thus having a symmetrical arrangement with respect to the elevation z axis. After the validation of the two devices, the final prototype, resulting from the union of the two configurations, is presented. The two devices, were designed through simulations in the commercial software ANSYS HFSS, as a partial result, the simulations are presented as proof of the effectiveness of the design, being the development and construction of the prototype for subsequent validation in experimental measurements the evolution of this work.
