SUMMARY:

The path of Software Engineering towards the realization of a computing business environment structured by the principle of Utility Computing involves facing challenges related to what is conventionally called, as a service distribution models, Resources as a Service. Among these resources, we highlight at least three Software, Backend and Function. Each of these models has its own specifics in terms of challenges. Despite this, all these models face at least two challenges: one, to build applications so that they have maximized reuse of the artefacts that compose them, and two, to manage the shared use of resources. In this work, we are concerned with the discussion of the aspects that involve these challenges and the proposition of a service platform of the type Backend as a Service, with effect also in the domain of Software as a Service, structured from the metadata interpretation driven development approach. This approach, as we will see, enables the construction of software artefacts in order to achieve increases in reuse rates compared to artefacts built according to current approaches. A consequence of this approach is that the resource management layer is simplified in its work. Therefore, our effort is extended to investigate and propose improvements related to the functioning of the resource scalability algorithm of this service platform.
