RESUMO:

The use of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to provide services such as the internet, air freight and air freight has become a reality in recent years. The use of these aircraft requires a secure communication between the control station and the UAV, a task facilitated by knowing the characteristics of the communication channel. This work is intended to present a measurement setup using an unmanned aircraft, and to use the measured data for characterization of the RF channel. The measurements are performed with a standard Dji Phantom 3 drone equipped with an XBee PRO 900HP module for communication between the drone and the ground control station. The data collected are analyzed in order to characterize large scale fading (path loss and shading) and small scale (multipath and Doppler) fading in scenarios with and without obstacles. As a preliminary result, the measurement setup was built and tested. Some post-processing scripts of the data were tested with synthetic signals, their improvement (inclusion of new metrics) and their use with real data for the final version of the dissertation document.
