SUMMARY:

The relation between sheltering in health services and the gender debate is a growing discussion in the field of Public Health. Violence against women is a persistent, multifaceted social phenomenon articulated by psychological, moral and physical facets. This recognition by workers of a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) should be considered as a fundamental condition for the quality of care provided. This dissertation has the general objective of analyzing the practices of Reception of CAPS professionals in a city in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, in mental health care for women in situations of violence. It is an action research, of an exploratory descriptive nature with a qualitative approach. Data were collected at two different times, namely: i) open questionnaire; ii) conversation circle. In the first stage of data collection, a printed questionnaire was delivered to all CAPS workers addressing topics about the practice of welcoming women victims of violence. These data were worked on for the construction of a common narrative to be presented as the trigger of the Conversation Circle, the second moment of data collection. Preliminary results were organized from the analysis of implications combined with thematic content analysis. Three cores of meaning were created - Identification of women victims of violence, Reception as an alienated technique, Permanent education as a critical node for assisting women victims of violence. Preliminary results reveal a negative view of the care offered by CAPS to women victims of violence. Embracement as a praxiological strategy in human care is not carried out in a qualified way, being reduced to a checklist of questions that does not allow identifying the suffering of women victims of violence. The workers of this health equipment place themselves in a technical way in relation to the care that ends in the verbal identification of violence for referrals to other equipment. It is clear that the need for Permanent Education and the construction of a Care Line to qualify the care for women victims of violence in the CAPS who have their non-verbal complaints made invisible, which demonstrates a fragile functional structure in the work of the CAPS team in relation to gender issues.
