Collective Health is a scientific field that contributes to the study of the health-disease-care process as a social process in diverse groups and populations, attacking its geographic, historical and social distributions, as well as the ways in which each society defines its demands in healthcare and is organized to meet their needs in this field. Considering Collective Health as an interdisciplinary field par excellence, two lines of research are proposed in order to enable a critical reflection on this field considering its multiplicity of objects and theoretical and methodological approaches. The knowledge to be developed in the masters in Collective Health will interface with the academy and with health services, broadening the theoretical knowledge, with the understanding of health as a product of social determinants.

The program has two lines of research, namely:

EPIDEMIOLOGY AND LIVING AND HEALTH CONDITIONS OF THE POPULATION

Its objective is to study the occurrence and distribution of diseases, conditions and events related to health in specific populations as well as their determinants, contributing to the formulation and improvement of control strategies and priority setting in public health policies. This line of research applies principles and epidemiological methods in the study of the health situation and in the knowledge of the social determinants of health.

WORK, EDUCATION AND THE SOCIAL PRODUCTION OF THE HEALTH-DISEASE PROCESS

Its objective is the development of studies on education in the field of health, including training, professional qualification and the work process in health. It can also assist in the elaboration of human resources policies in health to respond to the demands for labor of actions and interventions in municipal, state and federal public services environments.
