The Professional Master's in Family Health (MPSF) is offered by a Broad Association of Teaching and Research Institutions of the Northeast Region of Brazil, called the Northeast Network of Family Health Training (RENASF), with Family Health as a concentration area. MPSF comprises nine public higher education institutions: Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - (FIOCRUZ), Ceará State University (UECE), Vale do Acaraú State University (UVA), Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Federal University of Maranhão ( UFMA), Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), Regional University of Cariri - (URCA) and Federal University of Piauí - (UFPI). These executing units are called 'Nucleadoras'.

The objectives of the MPSF are:

  • To form leaderships for the Family Health Strategy, able to carry out activities of research and teaching in service, without departing from their activities in the attention or management;
  • To encourage teamwork through dialogue between professionals in the Family Health Strategy and the Family Health Support Centers;
  • To articulate basic elements of education, attention, management and research in the improvement of the Family Health Strategy and the Unified Health System, with emphasis on basic care.
