The Academic Master in Geography is an in-person program offered by the Seridó Higher Education Center (CERES / UFRN), on the Campus of Caicó, 270 km away from the state capital. The purpose of the program is to meet the demands of human resources training at master's degree level, specifically focusing on the production of scientific knowledge about the geography of the Brazilian semi-arid region. More specifically, this proposal emerged from research and articulations of researchers linked to the research laboratories linked to the Department of Geography, based in the Campus of Caicó. Considering the academic demands of the professors of these groups, it stands out the importance of the creation of the PPGEO as a strategy for the consolidation of a policy of settlement of doctors and dynamization of research in the State’s countryside.
