BIG AREA: Ciências Humanas
AREA: Educação
SUBÁREA: Ensino-Aprendizagem
SUMMARY:

In the last decades several games have been used in classrooms to help educators, aiming to promote the interest and stimulus of young people to school knowledge, in a potentially playful and interactive way. In this perspective, the development of Educational Role Playing Games (RPG) can be a methodological alternative in the teaching and learning process. The RPG has some categories such as live action (role-playing), digital (computers and consoles), and tabletop (game with board and tokens). For this research a tabletop RPG was developed, a collaborative role-playing game, which presents itself as a low-cost opportunity and has a high potential capable of engaging, stimulating, and developing an attitudinal content of the basic menus of the science curriculum, stimulating different skills such as multiple intelligences, useful in life in society as creativity, imagination, and collaboration. This work aimed to develop a physical product of educational character in the form of a pedagogical RPG where some scenarios based on regional situations were developed according to the narratives developed during this research with the use of RPGs, with high school students from a public high school in the state of Rio Grande do Norte within the formative itinerary. The qualitative research of the field research type used questionnaires and observation protocol as instruments of data collection. It is expected that throughout the development of the activities proposed by the elective component, the results presented by students can show that the use of tabletop role-playing game mechanics can be useful for the teaching and learning process in the area of Natural Sciences.
