RESUMO:

The effects of climate, as an agent of exposure to the risk of morbidity and mortality of the population, has been the target of several studies. Several meteorological factors influencing human health, temperature, relative humidity, precipitation and even the hydrological cycle affect the reproductive and survival capacity of pathogens in the environment, thus increasing the distribution of vector-borne diseases such as the incidence of respiratory and cardiac diseases, considered by several authors, such as climate-sensitive diseases, or climate-dependent diseases. Children and the elderly are the age groups that suffer most from the effects of climatic variations. In this sense, the objective of this study is to investigate the impact of climate dependent diseases on the probabilities of death, survival and gain in life expectancy of the elderly population residing in homoclimatic regions identified in Brazil from 1980 to 2013. For this purpose , the thesis is divided into two articles. The first one titled: Delimitation of homoclimatic zones of the Brazilian microregions, aims to: (a) Identify the differentials that characterize each homogeneous climatic profile in the spatial distribution of the microregions of Brazil, according to the climatology from 1980 to 2013; The variables to be used will be precipitation, relative air humidity, maximum and minimum temperatures and wind speed. These data will come from a study developed by Xavier et al. (2016) and refers to the period from January 1980 to December 2013, the units of analysis will be the microregions of Brazil, to obtain this information was calculated the average of all grid points allocated within the geographical delimitation of each micro, this identification was possible with the help of the QGis software. As the main methodological reference, the Grade of Membership method will be used to define the profiles based on the meteorological characteristics of the Brazilian microregions. The second article entitled: The impact of avoidance of deaths due to climate-dependent diseases in the elderly population living in homocliminal regions of Brazil in the years 2000 and 2010. It has the following objectives: (b) To investigate the relationship between climatic variation and the incidence of climate-dependent diseases in the Brazilian elderly population, from 1999 to 2013; (c) To quantify the magnitude of climate-dependent diseases in the probability of death, and survival of the elderly population; (d) Estimate the gain in life expectancy of the resident population in different homoclimatic regions if there were a reduction or extinction of certain climate dependent diseases. The sources of information for the development of this objective will come from the Information System for Authorization of Hospitalizations and Mortality Information System, available on the DATASUS website for the period from January 1995 to December 2017. In this article, the analysis of the exploratory statistics of the data on the diseases of the chapters of the ICD referring to diseases of the respiratory system, the circulatory system and the infectious and parasitic diseases, which are considered to be climate dependent. Preliminary results pointed to a higher incidence of the hospitalization rate in the elderly population, diseases of the circulatory system, followed by respiratory diseases, and a prevalence of hospitalizations for respiratory diseases from March to July was observed throughout Brazil. It is also noted that they present an association with the meteorological variables, occurring, generally in the period of low temperature and high relative humidity of the air. It is hoped that this study may contribute to giving visibility to climatic and public health issues that may provide subsidies for interventions aimed at improving the quality of life and health of the elderly population.
