RESUMO:

The study of atmospheric pollution is becoming increasingly common, as this causes impacts both at climate and environmental levels as well as in human health. Air pollution is the result of contamination by gases and solid and liquid particles suspended in the atmosphere. The effect can be immediate or medium / long term, since the pollution present in the atmosphere can be difficult to disperse. Particulate matter is the pollutant that presents the greatest danger, as it attaches itself to other pollutants and can become even more harmful. The objective of this study is to analyze and compare the concentration of PM10 in three regions of Rio de Janeiro, Cidade de Deus, Seropédica and Duque de Caxias, verifying if the type of activity developed (urban, rural or industrial) influences the pollution. In addition, verifying if the air quality standards adopted by Brazil are respected in the three regions of study, as well as verifying the trajectory of the pollutant of each region, through the "" Hysplit. For the current study, data from the PM10, from 1998 to 2013, from the three regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro with totally different characteristics were provided by the State Environmental Institute (INEA-RJ), with the Seropédica region being a rural area , Cidade de Deus an urban region and the region of Duque de Caxias, characterized as industrial. The analysis will involve data imputation techniques as well as time series analysis. As the initial results, the difference between the means of the regions stands out, being the rural area, Seropédica, with a lower concentration of PM10, having a mean of 33.2 μg / m3, while the regions of Cidade de Deus have an average of 90 μg / m3. Besides of identifying that air quality standards are not respected for most of the days under study in urban and industrial regions, unlike the rural region, which indicates preliminarily that the type of activity developed in the region influences the concentration of PM10 . It is hoped that this study can serve as a basis for the elaboration of public 4 policies, provide knowledge and awareness of the population on the importance of reducing the emission of pollutants.
