SUMMARY:

The purpose of the work presented here is to propose a way of dealing with the calculation of volume and capacity within the context of the theme of distribution and use of drinking water in the Macau region. As an educational theory we adopted the theory of objectification, authored by Professor Luiz Radford. The study focuses on the use of geometric formulas to calculate the frequent crises in the water supply caused by periods of less intense rainfall. This region is located in an area where rainfall occurs few times during the year. To carry out our proposal, we carried out qualitative research, emphasizing documental and bibliographical research gathering data on the capture and distribution of water. The educational product resulting from the study consists of a notebook with tasks whose theme revolves around the capture, distribution, storage and use of water. The theory of objectification (TO) participates in several instances of the project: in the preparation of the tasks, in the classroom didactics, in the data collection phase and in the data treatment phase. The tasks in the notebook involve Spatial Geometry related to the situation experienced by the students in that region addressed, including the calculation of volume and capacity measurements, aiming to integrate theory into practice, in addition to sticking to activities that focus on the rational use of water through situations problems involving variables such as: number of members, per capita consumption, rainfall in the region. Our product will be applied to a class of the 3rd year of high school in a state school network in the city of Macau/RN.
