ROBERT HOOKE, THE MICROSCOPE AND THE CELL: THE HISTORY OF SCIENCE AT PNLD 2021

This master's degree focuses on teacher training and discussions on the historical episode involving the English researcher Robert Hooke (1635-1703), microscopy and the "discovery" of the cell. An educational product is proposed aimed at training active teachers in the disciplines of Science and Biology in Basic Education and graduates of courses that provide qualification for teaching in these disciplines. , academic training, work at the Royal Society, aspects of his main research and achievements, as well as his relationships with researchers at the time; 2) A video lesson that discusses, based on the text Micrographia (1665), by Robert Hooke, the observations made of cork by him under the microscope, his motivations for observing the bark of the cork oak, related to the study of the physical properties of this material. and contemporary historiography does not agree that the discovery of the cell is attributed to Hooke, contrary to what is usually noted in textbooks and scientific popularization; 3) A sequence of video classes in which the collections approved in the PNLD 2021 are discussed, considering the themes cell, microscopy and Robert Hooke. This proposal for an educational product is justified by the need to act in the initial and continued training of teachers in order to bring a critical view of the selected historical episode and its presence in textbooks, avoiding the propagation of pseudo-stories and naive views about science, as well as highlighting aspects of a historical-philosophical nature that can be contemplated by teachers in their classes.
