SUMMARY:

 Broad access to information, interactivity provided by technologies and positioning in the face of various issues are aspects that surround students. In this scenario, it is necessary to prepare them so that they understand and intervene responsibly in their reality, thus, teaching by investigation becomes an adequate and effective didactic approach. This work aims to evaluate the contributions of this methodology based on the 5Es instructional model allied to technological resources, in the direction of learning about cell contents with the promotion of scientific literacy. For this, a sequence on the study of the cell was elaborated and applied, generating, as an educational product, an instructional guide of didactic support to the teacher. The investigation was carried out with 33 students from the 6th year of elementary school at a private school in Natal (RN) and data were collected from the activities used in the classes. Thus, the results show that the students had a good involvement in the activities, developing scientific literacy skills such as argumentation, construction, classification and organization of information, the legitimation of ideas and the improvement of explanations; were able to describe eukaryotic cells in terms of shape, type and arrangement from microscopic observation, with most students differentiating animal from plant by shape and characterizing cellular diversity as a whole from the functions and organization of genetic material, defining the cell as a structural and functional unit of living beings. In addition, the use of technologies enabled new teaching experiences and the development of investigation products with digital tools that involved creative work with the collection, organization and synthesis of information.
