SUMMARY:

This research focuses on the area of the History of Mathematics (HM), more precisely on Medieval Islamic Mathematics, and on the support that Digital Technologies of Information and Communication (DTIC) can provide to the understanding of this History, through Mathematical Investigation (MI) for the teaching of mathematics. The Islamic contribution to Mathematics is fundamental to understand the paths taken by this science throughout history, as well as its influence on the development of Western Mathematics, in which our students are inserted, (BERGGREN, 1986). Therefore, this work is configured in the presentation of a historical text, the result of the first phase of qualitative bibliographic research, which it was used in the elaboration of an alliance proposal between HM and TDIC, via IM, taking as a reference the Islamic scholar of the 9th century Thabit ibn Qurra and his scientific production, in addition to visualizing the entire context that emerges from Thabit's analyzed document (1958), in which he presents a response, in letter format, to a friend who was dissatisfied with the Theorem of Pythagoras applied only to isosceles right triangles (Socratic proof), in this direction Thabit presents and rhetorically enunciates the Generalization of the Pythagorean Theorem applied to any triangles, which we investigate more intensely in our research and in the proposed activities. The present work is an unfolding of my Scientific Initiation activities that culminate in a master's research whose result can be obtained from a sequence of activities proposed in the Educational Product, with the objective of implementing this alliance between HM and TDIC. This results in the second phase of our qualitative research, with elements of action research, by applying the product in an extension course, open to the entire interested community, whether teachers in initial and continuing education, as well as mathematical educators, in addition to teaching researchers.
