In the current days of a globalized society, young people and adolescents have been charged increasingly early to develop a conscious and responsible attitude towards the reality lived in the most diverse social contexts. The school environment is the right place for the development of the skills necessary for the formation of critical and active citizens, capable of transforming the environment in which they live. Therefore, it is necessary the performance of professionals of the education committed with this purpose. One strategy that has been used for this purpose in several countries, such as Portugal, is the use of Socio-Scientific Questions (QSC's) in science classes. The QSC's are controversial, controversial themes that, when approached in the classroom and well conducted by the teacher, allow the development of a series of skills and competences in the student, besides promoting scientific literacy. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the perception of graduates in initial training of Biology, Physics and Chemistry of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte about the subject. However, it is necessary to emphasize that this work is part of a master's thesis, and therefore, in addition to the objective of this work, the objectives of evaluating the perception of teachers already active around the QSCs were also proposed; to evaluate if there is any approach of QSC's in Science textbooks currently adopted in the teaching network; and propose an instructional material for teachers containing a didactic sequence elaborated from the QSC's as a teaching strategy. In order to reach the objective proposed in the present study, questionnaires composed of open and closed questions were applied. The answers were analyzed according to Bardin, and data analysis showed that in the three Pibid classes evaluated, more than 90% of the students of the three courses had not worked with QSC's. Only four students out of the total assessed have had experience in the classroom using the QSC as a teaching strategy, and they stated that the use of QSCs contributes to the students' greater engagement for better content consolidation, greater participation, interest, and awareness. Regarding the knowledge about QSCs, the analysis indicated that of the 19 students in the Biology class, only seven had read or heard about QSCs; while in the physics class, there were ten students; and in Chemistry, only one. The data also revealed that the controversial subjects most cited by the students of the three classes were related to the area of "Lifestyle" coverage, emphasizing abortion, sexuality, veganism and drugs / marijuana release. With regard to the data regarding the percentage of students' answers about the aspects that the QSCs can cover in science classes, it was interesting to note that 88% of the QSC's citations related to the ecological / environmental aspect were carried out by Biology students. It was found that initial biology graduates presented more knowledge and skills for teaching about QSCs than those of physics and chemistry during this study, revealing a gap to be filled in teacher training for teaching QSCs.
