SUMMARY:

Magnetophoresis, magnetic separation due to changes in magnetic gradient, has been the focus of several studies nowadays due to its versatility and wide range of applications. However, To obtain the expected results, several parameters must be optimized, among which we can highlight the geometry of the channel, magnetic field sources, physicochemical properties of the flow phases, as well as the diameter and magnetization of magnetic particles. The present work intends to synthesize superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles by the reverse co-precipitation method with a controlled injection of precursors. After surface coating, functionalization and characterization, the produced nanoparticles will be used in the study of magnetic separation in microchannels, where the main design variables will be evaluated to obtain the optimal process configurations.
