RESUMO:

Lignocellulosic biomass, after pretreatment, can also be used for the production of enzymes (cellulases, hemicellulases, proteases, pectinases, peroxidases etc.) by semi-solid (FES) or submerged (FSm) fermentation. Because it is a cellulose-rich residue of approximately 23-43%, 15-25% hemicellulose and 20-35% lignin, green coconut is considered an alternative crop to sugarcane and is a promising raw material for microbial cellulases, xylanase and lignininase production studies. In this context, the present study will evaluate the potential of a new endophytic filamentous fungus, Achaetomium Lippiae, for the production of these enzymes. Thus, an optimization of the cultivation conditions of this microorganism focused on enzymatic production, as well as further research on the hydrolysis of lignocellulosic materials by these enzymes, may assist in the formulation of an effective enzyme cocktail in the degradation of plant biomass. Due to its high cost, the production of cellulolytic enzymes, especially cellulases, has often been cited as the bottleneck for ethanol production from lignocellulosic residues. It is noteworthy that there is still little information regarding the use of green coconut shell and fungus belonging to the genus Achaetomium in the production of lignocellulolytic enzymes, which justifies a more detailed investigation, which is one of the objectives of the present study.
